Question from John H on 08/04/10:

Why are you running for Lakeport city council?

Answer:

After working in the cooperate world I feel it's time to work on my personal life.

I'd like to become more a part of the community so I'm taking steps to do that.

I bring a new outlook to issues facing Lakeport.

We need to keep a balanced budget while helping Lakeport's citizens.

With creativeness and proper use of our resources we can accomplish

many improvements even thru these hard times.

Question from Kitty on 10/29/10:

What difference do you think you can make in the City Council?

Answer:

I am open minded and will listen to citizens about issues, facts, and ideas; which will help me in making decisions for them.  This will not only solve problems we face but also enlighten me on citizen's feelings.

Question from Kitty on 10/29/10:

Previous city council members have promised to fix the roads, what would you do to make that happen?

Answer:

I would like to coordinate the use of the grinder and paver the city owns which would reduce the cost.  I also think if we partner with the county we may be able to cut  costs.  We need to use the prioritize list of "bad roads"  for repair.  We need to keep our main thoroughfares in good shape (for tourism), and just as important are the residential areas.

Question from Kitty on 10/29/10:

What makes you different from the other candidates, and why should I vote for you?

Answer:

I have no hidden agendas and will only work for the best interest of Lakeport's citizens and the city.  I am retired from at&t and use their medical benefits. I currently work for the county, and have refused their medical benefits.  If elected to the city counsel I will also refuse the city's medical benefits.  My refusal of the city's medical benefit's is a drop in the bucket but it will help with the budget.

Question from Kitty on 10/29/10:

Why do you think the city and the county should work together, and how can that be accomplished?

Answer:

If we have resources that the county can use and the county has resources that the city can use, we should make an agreement to share them.  The city and county need the same type of thing like asphalt to pave the roads, if purchased at the same time it may reduce the cost.  Working together, a city council member should attend the county meetings and the county supervisor(or a representative) should attend the city meetings. This sharing of information would produce more events of sharing and cost saving.  I would be willing to do this is if elected.

Question from Kitty on 10/29/10:

How would you help Lakeport's businesses?

Answer:

I believe you need to shop as much as possible in the city you live in, and also use local talent to work on city projects.  If a developer wants to do a project in city limits that we should encourage them to use local talent. Local businesses know that the city does not have the funding to pay overly inflated prices so they should give the city the best deal they can.  Working together we can help each other.

Question from Kitty on 10/29/10:

Describe your vision of a Lakeport in the future?

Answer:

I love Lakeport and plan on living here the rest of my life.  Change is the only constant in the universe. After meeting with many citizens during my campaign, most desire that Lakeport remain as a small town with it's small town atmosphere.  When change comes, we need to thoroughly plan for it, ensure it doesn not exceed the infrastructure, harm the environment, or go against the citizen's desires.  It's important to promote events and festivities to ensure business prosperity and pride in our city.  Just as important is to maintain safety for our children and seniors.  What a great place to live now and in the future.
